TESTIMONIALS
"Mike and the team at Ground Support were extremely professional in all their dealings with us, from advising on appropriate options and providing a clear and accurate design to undertaking the works in the manner agreed.
The team were all really personable and, given the nature of the works, left the site in a clean and tidy state at the end of each day.
Mike’s communications were always proactive and clear so we knew exactly what was happening regarding the schedule and progress of the works. This was very important to us and we really appreciated the effort Mike put in to keeping us up to date.
Mike’s experience and expertise is clearly evident in how he approaches new jobs and we trust his judgement and advice - we would have no hesitation in engaging Ground Support and Mike in the future.
Great job."

Mike and his team have done a great job building the foundations of our new house on a steep and difficult site. One of the best things about working with Mike was his experience, unflappable nature and ability to problem solve as he went. Finding effective solutions to the unexpected and significant issues that came up. Pleasant and honest to deal with it’s been a pleasure to work with Construx.

I have worked with Michael Kooiman for more than 20 years on a variety of small to medium projects including single and multi-unit residential and engineering contracts. The work has often involved foundations and retaining walls built using poles, cribs, precast and insitu concrete and rock anchors, also the construction of concrete floors, beams and columns, driveway and access roads. Mike has access to a wide range of construction plant and equipment and a workshop at his base which enables him to tackle difficult or unusual jobs at short notice with a relatively small team. He is able to visualise and document solutions based on hard information which he often procures himself. Mike has a good grasp of the regulatory environment, contracts and costs, practical construction techniques, and a creative approach to problem-solving which he is able to combine to offer original, practical and innovative solutions to construction problems. I have found working with Mike to be stimulating and challenging.

"The Project Manager of a 23 unit development, I can vouch for Ground Support's in-house technical ability and skill. Their amazing knowledge and experience means they are extremely capable and always had a working solution for me. Lifesavers!"

Project Manager
After having a pretty major landslip, I was at a total lost how to get it fixed.
I contacted literally 8 major land and retaining wall companies to come and see the job. Most just walked away saying "We'll have to pass on this one sorry" or gave their opinion that it wouldn't be possible to get any machinery up the step site.. "it's a manual bucket and spade job!".
Mike from Construx came to inspect the slip and his first comments were "ah ok, not as bad as the job I'm doing just around the corner!" that summed up Mike's attitude right from the start, Nothing was ever a problem!.
Mike and his team's experience was second to none.. He knew immediately how he would tackle the job and get it done. Always filling me with confidence that I could just leave it to him and his team to get the job done right.
Mike not only used track dumpers (basically heavy motorised wheel borrows), pulley and winge systems, he got a digger up what seemed an impossible site! Constructed a pole retaining wall, concreted paths and left the site clean and tidy.
I'm really happy with the job Construx did and would totally recommend them to anyone.

Last year, we contracted Mike Kooiman of Construx Ltd to remove a serious slip and
remediate the inundated crib wall that had collapsed on the roof and back of the house
at 148 The Esplanade in Houghton Bay.
We found Mike and his team to be knowledgeable in producing innovative solutions to
what was a complex situation:
1. Extremely limited and steep access between two houses – Mike engaged a crew
of scaffolders and had them alter it several times, before he was satisfied that it
was safe to use with heavy machinery driving on top of it
2. How to get a digger up the hill behind the house – Mike has his own crane which
lifted the digger onto the scaffolding – approximately 9m high – equal to the roof
of the 3 storey house
3. Danger of working on a blind corner in front of houses with almost no footpath
space, for an extended period of time
EQC had estimated 80 cubic m of soil/rock to be removed, which in fact ended up being
250 cubic m of soil/rock.
Mike managed his own safety plan using extensive knowledge and skills to operate a
digger on a steep hillside with loose materials. His team then placed the materials in a
dumper which drove on top of the scaffolding to a hopper (another of Mike’s inventions)
that could load into trucks on the road 3 stories below.
We are very grateful that Mike accepted our job and that it was completed as quickly as
possible, over several months, except in bad weather.
We can highly recommend Mike at Construx Ltd, to other home-owners that need
earthworks, especially those with difficult/restricted access and where there is an
elevated risk in regard to safety of anyone on site: including those living in the home
and neighbors, workers, as well as the public driving past, to be managed.
You are welcome to contact us to arrange a time to view our site and/or discuss any
concerns or questions you may have. We have kept a detailed record of videos and
photographs documenting the progress of the remediation work.

The team at Ground Support came highly recommended by a work mate. Upon the first onsite visit, good advice was provided and it became evident they knew what they were doing. The quote came with good details and justification, and although the work was not time-sensitive, the team became available quickly to tackle the project. The crew was pleasant, jovial, they were precise and meticulous, and they were quick to deal with unpredictable issues. A number of small changes were implemented without trouble or the mention of a cost increase, which was refreshing. I highly recommend the Ground Support team - they have delivered great value and it's been a pleasure to deal with them.
